Schedule

2:00 - 2:30 Registration Opens

2:30 - 3:30 Intro to Lindy Hop New to Lindy Hop? Or looking for a really good excuse to re-visit your basics? You know you want to... In this class we'll break apart all the little bits that make up the most important steps in Lindy Hop and find out what makes them swing.

3:30 - 4:30 Shiny Moves You Can Socially Use
Take a look at a handful of unique figures and variations you can start playing with right away. Leaders will learn a few versions of each step so that you may really improvise within the new ideas, and followers will learn how to distinguish between the movements with style and how to apply those skills universally.

4:30 - 5:30 Concepts to Break Your Brain
This is not an abstract drills class; we *will* be learning moves here, too -- but these steps will be packed within concepts that are designed to challenge your dance vocabulary and get you speaking on tongues by the end. Hopefully these concepts will also empower you to go off and create some new original material for yourself.

About Michael and Jaya
Michael & Jaya got seriously involved with Lindy Hop in the southeast region of the US in the early 2000's, prolifically teaching, organizing, and devoting themselves to the growth of the dance community. In addition to organizing Lindy Focus (1-7), Sugar Foot Stomp (1-2), Enter the Blues (2-3), and Southern Belle Swing Bash (1-5), they have taught workshops in over 25 US cities. They have attended and led multiple regional teacher training seminars, and have sought relentlessly to spread awareness of Lindy Hop and to cultivate its tradition and technique. Together and separately they have helped to organize, operate, and judge a variety of contests of every dance style associated with the Lindy Hop world.
